At STARCLEAR the type of energy work we do is a "clearing". In general, having energy work done is an action item that heals you to improve your life. In general, having a psychic reading is for when you aren't sure which action to take to improve your life.

You must do your homework on the spiritual worker before purchasing services. READ their websites, send them an email and ask questions about how they work to ensure you find someone who meets the expectation of service type you are expecting to receive. We do not all work in the same way.
Common stereotypes of "psychics" that are misconceptions
The stereotype: All people with psychic ability do psychic readings.
The truth: Psychics are people too with different personalities, different interests, different passions. A person with psychic ability with an interest in helping the general public will use their abilities to help people live better lives in the method that uses their strengths. (Case in point: Jeffrey does not offer psychic readings, instead, he uses his abilities to perform exorcisms and clearings.)
The stereotype: All psychic readers do astrology.
The truth: Astrology is a useful tool to know how the physical plane elements around us can effect our personalities and emotions. We don't all have an interest in it, however. Or if we do have an interest, we are not all experts. Not all expert astrologers offer to do astrology readings for people, either.
The stereotype: All psychic readers do tarot.
The truth: Tarot and other spiritual cards are useful tools to help trigger the reader's natural abilities. The same can be said for other divination tools, like pendulums, stone and crystal work, runes, etc. But not all psychics use these things, or if they do, they may not use them for every variety of work they offer. (Case in point: Amy uses cards for her card readings, but does not use any divination tools when she channels.)
The stereotype: All psychic readers can communicate with spirits.
The truth: Communication with spirits is mediumship. Not all psychic readers are mediums. Not all mediums choose to do readings. If a medium does readings, they may not necessarily channel for telepathic information from spirits in their readings. Also, a medium may or may not choose to offer to the general public services in mediumship. A medium may use their ability in ways other than being a telephone to the other side to help you spiritually.
The stereotype: If I flash money, the psychic will perform and entertain me. - or - All psychics do parties. - or - All psychics do instant readings. - or - All psychics perform in front of audiences.
The truth: We vary widely in how we choose to work. We are here to help, and we choose when and how we use our time and talents to help others. Some psychics are more entertaining types and do parties or work with groups or audiences to display their skills. Some psychics prefer to work quietly and behind the scenes, helping people one-on-one. (Case in point: this is how Amy and Jeffrey work.) Neither way is correct, or any more valuable or noble than the other, and like all of us have choices in how we work, so, too does the psychic have the freedom to choose how - or if - they want to work.
The stereotype: All psychic readers do future predictions, or do "snap" instant readings without me having to say a word.
The truth: There are two basic styles of reading; 1) the "old school" style where you say nothing, and let the psychic tell you about yourself and future predictions are given about very specific things in your life. 2) The new style is the "counseling" type reading where you converse with the psychic and he or she tells you the psychic impressions he or she receives that speak to your concerns and situation, and future predictions are tempered with the assertion that free will can change the outcome (this is the style that Amy reads in).
The stereotype: All energy workers do Reiki.
The truth: There are many different types of energy work, from clearing, to Reiki, to radionics, to shahmanism, to deeksha, and more. It is up to you, the consumer to do your homework and choose what style you think will work best for you. We at STARCLEAR do not subscribe to the concept of Reiki, due to the fact that it does not ring true to us based on our experiences with the spirit world, however we know it has value and helps some people.
The stereotype: All psychics are clairvoyant (or empathic, or clairaudient, or clairsentient, etc).
The truth: Are all doctors heart surgeons? Are all dentists orthodontists? Do all lawyers take divorce cases? If you are looking for a psychic specialty, don't just pick any "psychic". Take the time to read about, or ask about, what that person does.
The stereotype: "Psychic" is a dirty word.
The truth: A psychic is simply a spiritual worker who chooses to help people spiritually and not operate within the confines of an organized religion. Is "priest", "minister", "pandit", "monk", "nun", or "vicar" a dirty word? Click here to read about spiritual justice.
